Beacon Hill Pub

149 Charles St, Boston, MA 02114
Neighborhoods :
Beacon Hill, Back Bay
Once rated the worst pub in Boston, this is perhaps a little extreme: There's plenty of competition.\n
Hours : Mon-Sat 11am-2am Sun 12pm-2am
Parking : Street
  • Smoking Permitted : No
  • Minimum Age : 21
  • Save Time : If you're lucky enough to grab a waitress, tip her well and save yourself the hassle of trips to the crowded bar.
  • Know Before You Go : Make sure you bring cash: No other forms of payment are accepted.
  • Parking : This being a hard-drinker's bar, most patrons wisely take public transportation to get here. Remember that the nearby red line stops running around 12:30am.
  • Where to Sit : To avoid a constant stream of patrons entering and exiting for a smoke, set up camp in the back.

upper management terribly rude

torso9 from Citysearch10/12/2010 7:39 am

Having been there several times for drinks and enjoyed myself for the most part, I was dismayed to find that the upper-management at the office was terribly rude and unhelpful. I called to inquire about what they served and I talked to a…

break the ice on a first date...(or meetup)

Meghan Christine from Citysearch01/13/2010 2:32 pm

Underrated bar by far, Beacon Hill Pub, offers a convenient location for either pre-gaming, or even end of the night group meet-ups before going home, and also a great venue for blind first dates! I will continue to come back to you -…

best dive bar in Boston

MattOBrien2 from Citysearch05/25/2008 7:05 am

I went to college in the area and lived at this bar. I have some of the best memories there. If you're a fan of dive bars, this is the place for you! the service is what you would expect from a dive, but the bartenders have charisma…

The Best Dive Bar In Boston

CamWalk1130 from Citysearch03/02/2008 8:46 am

The Beacon Hill Pub sure gets its fair share of negative reviews but the truth is, if you're young and looking for a good time without damaging your wallet, it's not the worst place in the world! Look at it this way: with beers no more…

Best dive in town

zissoutfloppenkee from Citysearch12/15/2007 7:13 am

So far, this has been my favorite place to unwind. I walked across the street from Clink to this place and it was like going from night to day. . . or the other way around. It's dark, doesn't smell awesome, and is filled with…

Great Bar, the basket ball game is cool, $2 brewbakers are the best part of the entire bar. Pretty empty during the week.

Worst Bar

hockiemack from Citysearch09/12/2006 8:00 pm

The bar is dirty. The crowd isn't very friendly. This is how I felt the first time I went, so I figured I was being a snob and gave it another shot. I still don't like it. It won't ever change. After my friend's Sam Adams was served…

Scottie's THE MAN

whyjudywhy from Citysearch03/09/2004 7:00 pm

I live in Los Angeles and every time I'm in Boston, I hit BHP. If there was an Olympics for Dive Bars, The Beacon Hill Pub would undoubtedly take the Gold. The pub also has the best bartender of all time, Scott. He's a local legend…
